Who this policy covers
This policy applies to the CoinNotch macOS app and to coinnotch.app, both developed and operated under the CoinNotch brand. CoinNotch is currently maintained as an independent project based in Panama.
What the app collects
Nothing that identifies you. CoinNotch does not ask for an account, an email address, or a wallet connection at any point. The coins and tokenized assets you choose to pin are saved locally in the app's settings on your own Mac, not on a remote server, and are never transmitted anywhere.
- No account or login of any kind is created or required.
- No wallet connection. CoinNotch cannot read balances, addresses, or transactions, because it never asks for wallet access.
- No portfolio tracking. It shows prices for coins you pin, not what you own or trade.
- Local settings only. Your watchlist, alert thresholds, and display preferences live in the app's local settings on your Mac.
What the app fetches from the internet
To show live prices, CoinNotch requests public market data (current price, 24-hour change, and similar figures) from a third-party market-data provider, currently CoinGecko's public API. These requests contain no personal identifiers, only the coin symbols needed to look up a price. That provider may log standard technical data such as IP address and request timestamps under its own privacy policy, which is outside CoinNotch's control.
What the website collects
coinnotch.app is a static site. It does not run visitor accounts, does not use advertising trackers, and does not sell visitor data. Pages that show live prices (for example, price and coin guides) fetch public market data client-side from CoinGecko, the same as the app. Standard web server logs (IP address, browser type, pages requested) may be retained briefly by our hosting provider for security and abuse prevention, which is normal for any website.
Cookies and analytics
CoinNotch does not set advertising or tracking cookies. If basic, privacy-respecting analytics are added in the future (for example, aggregate page-view counts with no personal identifiers), this policy will be updated to say so before that change ships.
Data sharing
We do not sell personal data, because we do not collect it. The only outbound requests the app or site make are public, read-only price lookups to the market-data provider described above.
Children's privacy
CoinNotch is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect data from anyone, which by extension includes children. The app is a financial information tool intended for general audiences.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes in a way that matters, for example if the app were to introduce an optional account or analytics, the "Last updated" date above will change and, where the change is material, we will note it on this page.
