Make CoinNotch open at login

The short version

To have CoinNotch open automatically every time you start your Mac, add it to your login items. You can do this from CoinNotch's own settings if it offers a launch-at-login toggle, or through macOS System Settings under General, Login Items. Once set, the ticker is in your menu bar from the moment you log in, with nothing to launch manually.

A menu-bar ticker is most useful when it is simply always there, which means having it start with your Mac rather than launching it by hand each day. Setting CoinNotch to open at login takes a few seconds and there are two ways to do it. Here they are.

From CoinNotch settings

The simplest route, if available, is CoinNotch's own settings. Many menu-bar apps include a launch at login or open at startup toggle right in their preferences. Open the settings from the menu-bar icon and look for that option. Flip it on and you are done, the app handles registering itself to start with your Mac.

From macOS System Settings

You can also set it from macOS itself, which works for any app. Open System Settings, go to General, then Login Items, and add CoinNotch to the list of apps that open at login. This is the same place you manage startup apps system-wide, and it gives you a single view of everything that launches when you log in.

  1. Open System Settings on your Mac.
  2. Go to General, then Login Items.
  3. Click the add button and choose CoinNotch.
  4. It now opens automatically every time you log in.

Either way, the result is the same: from the moment you log in, your crypto prices are sitting in the menu bar with nothing to open. To remove it later, just turn off the toggle or remove it from Login Items. For the full setup from scratch, see the main guide.
